The Commonwealth Games, often dubbed the 'Friendly Games,' represent a major international multi-sport event that convenes athletes from across the Commonwealth every four years. These Games are unique in their focus on camaraderie and shared heritage among former British territories, offering a distinct competitive environment compared to other global sporting spectacles. The 2026 edition, scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, is set to continue this tradition, bringing together approximately 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories. Zambia has a long and proud history of participation in the Commonwealth Games, making its debut in 1954 as Northern Rhodesia. The nation has consistently sent delegations to the Games, with the 2026 event marking its 16th appearance. Over the decades, Zambian athletes have demonstrated remarkable resilience and talent, securing a total of 42 medals, including 5 gold, 13 silver, and 24 bronze.
