Farmers across Chifunabuli District in Luapula Province have officially commenced the process of redeeming their agricultural inputs under the 2026/2027 Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP). The rollout marks a critical milestone for rural smallholders in the region, providing much-needed relief and preparation time as the farming community gears up for the upcoming agricultural season. Chifunabuli District Marketing Development Officer, Dolnald Sikazwe, confirmed that eligible farmers have begun receiving their allocation codes and are actively engaging with registered agro-dealers to collect vital commodities such as seed and fertilizer. The early initiation of the redemption phase is designed to circumvent historical logistical bottlenecks that have occasionally delayed input delivery in past farming cycles, thereby threatening optimal crop yields. Agricultural experts and local administrators have continually emphasized the importance of timely input distribution, particularly given the shifting weather patterns and climate variability affecting Southern Africa. By expediting the redemption process, the government aims to empower small-scale farmers to prepare their lands adequately, apply basal and top-dressing fertilizers at the correct agronomic intervals, and ultimately bolster household and national food security. The broader rollout of FISP incorporates ongoing digital verification mechanisms, including electronic codes and e-KYC protocols, to ensure that subsidies reach intended beneficiaries transparently. Local cooperatives in Chifunabuli have rallied their members to complete their required financial contributions promptly, enabling a seamless transition from registration to physical input collection at designated distribution centers. As the 2026/2027 agricultural calendar gathers momentum, the Ministry of Agriculture maintains its appeal for registered beneficiaries to utilize their codes before established deadlines.
