Chinese Embassy holds fashion show
The Zambian government has emphasized the critical need to strengthen bilateral ties with the People's Republic of China, focusing specifically on technology transfer, infrastructure expansion, investment, and human capital development. Speaking during a high-profile cultural showcase and reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Lusaka to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, senior government officials underscored that robust partnerships are vital for accelerating national development frameworks. Representing the Zambian administration, Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Maambo Hamaundu noted that enhanced cooperation with Beijing serves as a powerful catalyst for transforming Zambia into a more productive, industrialized, and export-oriented economy. He highlighted that strategic collaboration in areas such as digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence application, and agricultural modernization directly aligns with national objectives aimed at job creation and improved livelihoods for ordinary citizens. Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing echoed these sentiments, reaffirming his country's commitment to deepening practical cooperation across multiple sectors, including energy, mining, and the digital economy. Ambassador Han pointed to ongoing milestones—such as progress on major energy installations and transport corridors like the TAZARA railway revitalization—as concrete examples of the mutually beneficial comprehensive strategic partnership shared between the two nations. While the diplomatic reception prominently featured high-level policy dialogue on economic transformation, the evening also celebrated people-to-people exchanges. A vibrant fashion show blending traditional Chinese design elements with Zambian textiles and culture took center stage, illustrating the growing cultural affinity and enduring friendship between the two countries during the designated China-Africa Year of People-to-Peop
