Livingstone High Court has nullified the UPND’s Mapatizya Parliamentary seat held by Emelda Munashabantu
The political landscape in Zimba District has experienced a major shake-up following a ruling by the Livingstone High Court nullifying the parliamentary election for Mapatizya Constituency. The judgment effectively strips United Party for National Development (UPND) lawmaker Emeldah Munashabantu of her seat, leaving the constituency unrepresented in the National Assembly pending fresh electoral directions. The legal challenge was brought forward by independent candidate Clive Darius Miyanda, who contested the narrow outcome of the August general elections. During the protracted court proceedings, detailed arguments centered on grave discrepancies in the vote tallying process and administrative failures by electoral officials. For the ruling UPND, the loss of the Mapatizya seat is a notable setback in the legislature, while oppos
