SOLWEZI – The North-Western Province Permanent Secretary, Grandson Katambi (Rtd), has officially recommended the establishment of dedicated health rooms at two prominent educational institutions in the region: Kayombo Boarding Secondary School and Mushindamo Girls Secondary School. This directive follows a careful assessment of the health infrastructure needs within schools, underscoring the government's commitment to student welfare and access to essential health services. The recommendation has been forwarded to Healthy Learners, a non-profit organisation renowned for its impactful work in integrating health services into the Zambian education system. The organisation, which already operates in several provinces, focuses on providing primary healthcare, health education, and preventative services directly within school premises, thereby reducing barriers to access and improving overall student health outcomes. The proposed health rooms are expected to serve as vital first-response points for various health issues, from minor injuries and illnesses to chronic condition management, ensuring that students receive timely attention without having to leave school grounds.
