Mundubile promises 300,000 jobs via 12 farming blocks
Lusaka, Zambia – Brian Mundubile, the presidential candidate representing the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance, has unveiled an ambitious economic blueprint centered on agricultural transformation, promising the creation of over 300,000 jobs through the establishment of 12 strategically located farming blocks across Zambia. Speaking at a recent campaign rally, Mundubile articulated his vision for a revitalized agricultural sector, positioning it as the cornerstone of national economic recovery and youth empowerment under an NRPUP government. The proposed initiative involves the development of 12 large-scale, integrated farming blocks, each designed to be a hub of agricultural activity, encompassing cultivation, processing, and value addition. Mundubile emphasized that these blocks would not merely focus on primary production but would also foster agro-processing industries, thereby creating a diverse range of employment opportunities from farm labour and technical support to managerial roles and logistics. This integrated approach, he argued, would ensure sustainability and maximize economic returns for the nation. Zambia, with its vast tracts of arable land and favourable climatic conditions, possesses immense untapped agricultural potential. However, challenges such as limited access to finance, inadequate infrastructure, and fragmented production have historically hampered the sector's growth. Mundubile's plan seeks to address these systemic issues by providing a structured framework for large-scale investment and coordinated development within these farming blocks. He highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships and attracting both local and international investors to inject the necessary capital and expertise into these ventures. The promise of 300,000 jobs directly targets Zambia's pressing unemployment crisis, particularly among its burgeoning youth population.
