Submit your application to: [email protected] DEADLINE: 9th May, 2026 JOB OPPORTUNITY Sector Head – Mining Reporting Line: Head Corporate Banking Location: Copperbelt Region ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Business Development Drive client acquisition and management of existing Mining sector relationships in line with the Bank’s strategy to achieve quality business growth. Maintain, grow, and reactivate relationships with key mining clients to improve deposit mobilization and loan portfolio growth. Identify and develop new business opportunities within the mining value chain, including contractors, suppliers, and associated industries. Conduct market research and competitor analysis within the mining sector to inform business strategies and enhance market share. Drive synergy between Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Trade Finance, and Treasury to maximize revenue opportunities from mining clients. Ensure value chain opportunities within the mining ecosystem are fully leveraged in collaboration with internal business units. Develop periodic sector performance reports for presentation to management. 2. Product Management Provide strategic direction to product teams to develop and deliver tailored financial solutions for the mining sector. Identify gaps in current product offerings and recommend innovative solutions to meet evolving mining client needs. Support the development of structured finance solutions to enhance client relationships and profitability. Advise the Head Corporate Banking on emerging opportunities within the mining sector and propose commercially viable strategies. Promote cross-selling of the Bank’s products including trade finance, cash management, and treasury solutions. 3. Strategy & Networking Develop and implement a comprehensive Mining Sector Strategy aligned with the Bank’s overall Corporate Banking objectives. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders including mining corporates, regulators, and industry associations. Represent the Bank in mining industry forums, conferences, and engagements to enhance visibility and positioning. Enhance client retention by acting as a key point of contact and delivering high-quality relationship management. Keep abreast of local and international developments in the mining industry and assess their impact on the Bank’s portfolio. Monitor and ensure achievement of sector targets and strategic objectives. 4. Risk Management & Compliance Ensure the mining portfolio operates within the Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory framework. Conduct credit analysis, client verification, and appraisal of mining-related transactions in line with Bank policies. Act as the first line of defense in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within the mining portfolio. Ensure adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards in all mining sector engagements. Monitor portfolio quality and implement corrective actions to manage non-performing assets. Ensure compliance with internal policies, credit procedures, and regulatory requirements. 5. Portfolio Management & Reporting Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the mining portfolio. Monitor portfolio performance and ensure achievement of revenue, profitability, and growth targets. Conduct periodic reviews of client relationships to identify growth and optimization opportunities. Prepare and present sector performance reports to the Head Corporate Banking and senior management. Ensure efficient cost management and optimal utilization of resources within the sector. KPIs Achieve approved Profit Before Tax (PBT) targets for the Mining sector. Growth in loan book, deposits, and non-funded income from mining clients. Portfolio quality within acceptable risk thresholds. Increase in client acquisition and retention within the sector. Successful execution of Mining sector strategy. Compliance with regulatory and ESG requirements. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education Minimum of a first degree in a business-related field from a recognized University with at least a Credit or better. Grade Twelve Certificate with at least Five (05) Credits or better, including Mathematics and English. ZAQA verified certificates. Professional Certifications Professional certifications in Credit Analysis or Banking (added advantage). Mining sector knowledge or certification (added advantage). Experience Minimum 8+ years’ experience in banking or financial services. Proven experience in relationship management at a senior level. Exposure to credit appraisal, development finance, and mining sector dynamics. Knowledge of Zambia’s mining regulatory framework and ESG standards.
