:\r\n\r\nThe role of the Junior Metallurgist is to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of all process control measurements and sampling systems across copper cathode, concentrate, and gold circuits. This role focuses on calibration of plant instrumentation, verification of analytical methods, and implementation of QA/QC protocols to support metallurgical accounting and process optimization.\r\n\r\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES \r\n\r\nThe incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function;\r\n\r\nInstrumentation Calibration\r\n\r\n \tDevelop and maintain a calibration schedule for critical process instruments (density meters, flow meters, pH/ORP probes, level sensors, online analyzers, belt weighers, tankhouse EW instrumentation).\r\n \tPerform and verify calibrations in collaboration with the instrumentation and maintenance teams.\r\n \tDocument calibration results and maintain traceability to certified standards.\r\n\r\nAnalytical QA/QC\r\n\r\n \tImplement and monitor QA/QC protocols for laboratory and online analysis.\r\n \tValidate analytical methods and investigate discrepancies in assay results.\r\n \tMaintain control charts and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 or equivalent standards.\r\n\r\nMetallurgical Accounting Support\r\n\r\n \tEnsure accuracy of mass and metal flow measurements for reconciliation across mine\u2013mill\u2013product streams.\r\n \tAudit sampling systems and verify representativity for copper cathode, concentrate, and gold circuits.\r\n \tSupport compliance with AMIRA P754 metallurgical accounting principles.\r\n\r\nData Integrity & Process Control\r\n\r\n \tMonitor data quality in plant historians and process control systems.\r\n \tIdentify and resolve issues with drifting sensors or faulty signals.\r\n \tSupport process control improvements through accurate measurement and calibration.\r\n\r\nContinuous Improvement\r\n\r\n \tLead initiatives to reduce measurement uncertainty and improve reconciliation accuracy.\r\n \tRecommend upgrades to instrumentation and sampling systems.\r\n \tPrepare calibration and QA/QC performance reports for management review.\r\n\r\nTraining & Collaboration\r\n\r\n \tTrain operators and metallurgical staff on calibration procedures and data integrity.\r\n \tWork closely with maintenance, laboratory, and operations teams to ensure alignment on calibration and QA/QC standards\r\n\r\nQUALIFICATIONS\r\n\r\n \tGrade 12 Certificate\r\n \tBachelor\u2019s Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or related field.\r\n \tAll academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)\r\n\r\nEXPERIENCE\r\n\r\n \t1\u20132 years\u2019 experience in mineral processing with exposure to process control and calibration is desirable.\r\n \tKnowledge of Metal accounting will be advantageous.\r\n \tFamiliarity with plant instrumentation, sampling theory, and analytical QA/QC practices will be advantageous.\r\n \tProficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, PI System) and statistical process control will be advantageous.\r\n\r\nBEHAVIOURAL TRAITS \r\n\r\n \tStrong drive and personal sense of ownership and accountability.\r\n \tExcellent cognitive and analytical skills.\r\n \tPossess the management discipline and perseverance to develop and implement medium to long term plans.\r\n \tExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\r\n \tAbility to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.\r\n \tExhibitions strong initiative and spirit for continuous improvement.\r\n \tSelf-assertive.\r\n \tEnthusiastic and pro-active in manner.\r\n \tGood people and communication skills.
