Diesel Mechanic KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel vehicles and equipment. Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of diesel engines. Repair or replace defective engine parts, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and hydraulic systems. Conduct inspections and testing of vehicles and equipment. Perform preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Ensure tools and workshop equipment are properly maintained. Respond to field breakdowns and emergency repairs when required. Follow safety procedures and workshop regulations. Report major defects and recommend necessary repairs or replacements. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the workshop. QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Grade 12 Certificate. Craft Certificate or Diploma in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Repair, or related field. Valid driver’s license is an added advantage. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance preferred. Knowledge of diagnostic tools and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals..
