:\r\n\r\nJob Description\r\n\r\nThe Artisan Boilermaker in converter rehabilitation will be responsible for installing, fabricating, and repairing plant equipment such as converters, chutes, and pipes, with a strong focus on safety, welding, and steelwork at our Kansanshi Smelter Plant. This role is vital in keeping smelter operations running smoothly and safely.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPurpose\r\n\r\n \tMaintain and rehabilitate converters and related plant equipment.\r\n \tEnsure safe and efficient operation of smelter and acid plant systems.\r\n \tPerform steel fabrication and repair works.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\n\r\n \tInstall and maintain equipment: converters, chutes, pipes, and other mechanical systems.\r\n \tFabrication and welding: carry out steelwork repairs using cutting and welding tools.\r\n \tSafety compliance: adhere to health, safety, environment, and quality regulations.\r\n \tTool care: maintain allocated tools and equipment.\r\n \tTeam collaboration: work under supervision of mechanical section supervisors.\r\n\r\nCompetencies\r\n\r\n \tTechnical knowledge of boilers, pressure vessels, and smelter equipment.\r\n \tWelding and cutting expertise (arc welding, oxy-acetylene cutting).\r\n \tBlueprint reading and ability to follow engineering drawings.\r\n \tProblem-solving skills in mechanical repair and rehabilitation.\r\n \tStrong safety awareness in hazardous industrial environments.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nConverter Rehabilitation\r\n\r\n \tInspect converters for wear, cracks, or corrosion.\r\n \tCut and replace damaged steel plates or pipes.\r\n \tWeld reinforcements to extend equipment lifespan.\r\n \tAlign and fit new components according to engineering drawings.\r\n \tTest repaired systems for leaks, strength, and operational safety.\r\n \tInspect converter equipment Check for cracks, corrosion, and wear in converter shells, pipes, and chutes.\r\n \tPrepare work area and ensure safety compliance, isolate equipment, and gather welding and cutt
